Lunar New Year

Today there is a festival at the end of my street to celebrate Lunar New Year and the year of the goat. Tens of thousands of Vietnamese people came to Melbourne in the 1970’s as refugees and then in the 1980’s through migration programs.  Since that time Victoria Street in Richmond – also known as Little Saigon – has been their community hub. I’m very fortunate to have many good Vietnamese restaurants and food markets on my doorstep.

I’ve been wanting to take more ‘street’ photographs so thought today was a good opportunity to get some practice. With the Vietnamese community (and many others) enjoying the festivities despite the wet weather, I found many interesting subjects to photograph.

  1. And I think that you should continue making street photography because you have make great photos.
I loved those shots. They tell the story and the compositions you made are stunning. The portraits of the old lady and old man are stunning as well as the girls with the bubbles. All are really good.
    Thanks!
