The Changing Seasons – February

You may remember this time last month I posted a series of photographs taken around the Federation Square/Southbank/Flinders Street Station precinct of Melbourne in response to a challenge set by fellow blogger Cardinal Guzman from Oslo to capture the changing seasons each month throughout the year. Melbourne is still in the midst of summer although we’ve not had a very hot one so far.  Last month my photos were taken in the evening – click here if you missed them. To provide a different perspective I decided to shoot just on daybreak this month (which is why some of them are little too dark).

  5. So many beautiful images Michelle. Can not wait to visit Melbourne. My favorite image is the last one in black and white as I love Street Photography.

    1. Thanks Lisa. For some reason that one worked better as black and white – maybe it was the Vespa and hat giving him an old-fashioned look.

  6. I second the other Sandra’s view, gotta love Melbourne. It’s rare to see it with so few people on the street. I love the old guy with the white dog in the half light, the tram in the background

    1. Thanks! I had to get up pretty early to beat the morning rush but it was worth it.

    1. The building you commented on surrounds our city square. It was built in 2002 and created a lot of controversy at the time because of the unusual architecture – people either loved or hated it. It’s now a very popular meeting place. Inside there are shops, cafes, bars, an arthouse cinema and an art gallery.

  10. Lovely images – looks quiet on the streets. Tell me, surely that man wasn’t riding the Vespa? He looks far too well dressed. Great shot though!

    1. Thanks! I didn’t see him riding it but it certainly looked as though it was his.

  11. Hi! I’ve just found your blog. I LOVE Melbourne too. I don’t live there, (I live in New Zealand) but my daughter does. She used to live in Richmond, now in Kew. We’ve been over on holiday a couple of times and I have to say that Melbourne is fabulous!
    Anyway, following you now 🙂
