When I saw Afloat was the theme for this week’s photo challenge I immediately thought of a shot I’d taken earlier this week.
My back door faces east and early each morning I open the door to check out the new day. Often I’m greeted by a beautiful sunrise but on this particular day there were three hot air balloons drifting past.
My building was once a hat factory, built in the late 1800’s. When it was turned into apartments a few years ago, the very tall brick chimney that was once part of the factory was left standing. As one of the balloons floated past the chimney I took this shot.
Where is that chimney located?

It’s a part of my building in Abbotsford in Melbourne.

I’ve just realised you live in Melbourne. It’s the Denton Mills building in Nicholson St just off Victoria St.

A very small world. I’ve only lived here for 6 months but I love it. I used to live in Ascot Vale.
