Weekly Photo Challenge – Forces of Nature

The theme for this week’s photo challenge is Forces of Nature and we’ve been asked to share something from our own corner of the world.

For the past week I’ve been looking after a friend’s bed and breakfast and gallery in the Yarra Valley. For those of you not familiar with this part of the world, it is a very beautiful area of our state known mostly for wine growing – the relatively cool climate makes it ideal for producing pinot noir and sparkling white wine.  The area is also well known for its national parks and forests where you’ll find many of our native animals roaming about.

It is a perfect time to be here as we are in the depths of Autumn and the leaves on the vines are a beautiful yellow. Many of the trees around the region have also changed into different shades of red, orange and yellow putting on a spectacular display.

As I’ve needed to rise early each morning, I’ve been able to enjoy some pretty stunning views throughout the week. The photo I’m featuring for the challenge was taken on a morning when the clouds hadn’t yet lifted and the hill behind the vineyards was still mostly covered.  As I stood enjoying the view a hot air balloon emerged from the fog, completing the scene.

  2. What a cute photo! Could you tell me please where you took your gravatar photo. I think it is somewhere in Italy, but I could not recognise the building from behind your back 🙂

        1. It’s a bit hard to see the background so an easy one to miss.
