The Changing Seasons – July

This is my very late post for this month’s Changing Seasons series. Melbourne is in the depths of winter and has been very cold and wet. The plane trees that line many of the city’s streets are bare and show off our beautiful old buildings in a way that we don’t see for most of the year.

I took most of these photos early one Saturday morning so the streets appear much quieter than they’ve been. European football teams, Real Madrid CF, Manchester City FC and AS Roma were in town for an International Champions competition and the city was full of football fans from all over Australia. This week the Melbourne International Film Festival started and will run for three weeks. Thousands of people come into the city each night to see one of the many films on the program. Even though it’s quite cold and gets dark very early in the evening there is still so much happening around the city.

The Changing Season series was started by a fellow blogger back in January. Each month a group of us from all over the world post photos from our home city to show the changing seasons. You can check them all out here on his website at https://cardinalguzman.wordpress.com/2015/07/07/monthly-photo-challenge-the-changing-seasons-07/

  1. Fabulous gallery again Michelle. What a beautiful city. I was there yesterday just for the day (left my house at 5am, got back at midnight) but managed to do a little photo shoot in Carlton before going back to the airport.
I really like the shot of the guy going across the bridge toward the Crown building – I saw that one on IG. And I absolutely adore the black and white shot of the older couple walking away from you – the clarity in that photo is surreal.

      1. You really have a beautiful city but also a great eye for finding a great shot. I’m back next week and planning to not hire a car to force me out on the street for some more snaps. I processed Carlton last night 😉

  4. Lovely photos Michelle. Love the one with the couple walking away from you. And the bare trees against the buildings look amazing.
