The Changing Seasons – December

This is my last post for the current Changing Seasons series. The series was established by blogging friend Cardinal Guzman from Oslo back in January and each month bloggers from all over the world have been posting shots of their home city. The idea of the series was to highlight the seasonal changes that occur in […]

I have a new blog

I have a new blog! This Travelling Life will be a companion site to This Melbourne Life (sadly neglected for many months now), where I’ll post stories and photographs from my travels – starting next week. Over the next seven weeks I’ll be visiting Fiji, Paris, Iceland, Spain and Portugal. Check out This Travelling Life to […]

2016 Changing Seasons – February

At the start of February I was confident I knew what the theme of this post would be as I’d planned to spend the month travelling to New York, Havana, Mexico City and Washington DC. I arrived in New York on 1 February and had five great days exploring Greenpoint in Brooklyn where I was […]

2016 Changing Seasons – January

Last year I participated in a monthly blog series called The Changing Seasons.  The series was initiated by fellow blogger Cardinal Guzman from Oslo and involved people from all over the world posting photographs from their home town or city each month. This year the series is being run again but with another option – […]

The Changing Seasons – November

It seems like only yesterday that I wrote my first Changing Seasons post.  That was back in January, now here we are in November with only a month to go before the series is complete. The weather has been warmer this month so I’ve been out a few times wandering the streets of the city […]

Bench Series – October

I’m contributing this photograph to Jude’s bench series which she has been hosting on her site Travel Words. There have been some fabulous  images posted throughout the year and I encourage you to check the site out for yourselves. This month Jude is looking for a bench with someone or something sitting on it. I included […]

The Changing Seasons – October

I missed September in The Changing Seasons series as I was away in Fiji. Unfortunately it was a pretty important month to miss as so much changed in Melbourne in those few short weeks. Before I left the plane trees outside my window and throughout the city were bare. When I returned they were covered with […]

Ganesh Utsav

Today was another rainy day in Savusavu. Robyn and I were killing time sheltering in the marina cafe when we heard drums beating and people cheering. We raced to our rooms to grab cameras and umbrellas and went out on to the street to see what was happening. Our grey day had become a mass […]

Fiji’s hidden paradise

I’m writing this post from Savusavu located on the south coast of Vanua Levu, the large island north of mainland Fiji. It took almost three days to sail from Vuda Marina on the west coast of the mainland to Savusavu. The first night we anchored near Malake Island on the north coast of the mainland. […]

Weekly Photo Challenge – Monochromatic

I recently came across this scene in Savusavu, Fiji. There was so little difference between the colour of the water and the hazy sky that it was difficult to see the horizon. I played around a little with the photo in Lightroom to produce this image for last week’s theme of Monochromatic.
