Last year my daughter and I spent three weeks travelling around Turkey. We had some amazing experiences – one of the most memorable being a balloon flight over Cappadocia. As the balloons take off just on dawn we had to be up and ready to leave before 5am. Our Reward? See for yourself.

This shot was taken in Gubbio, Italy and I think it’s perfect for this week’s theme – Express Yourself. While walking around the Ceri festival – when the entire town parties for a day – I spotted these two enjoying a quiet beer and lunch away from the festivities.
Weekly Photo Challenge – Serenity
This week we have been asked to post a photo that best defines Serenity. I took this shot last year on the island of Raiatea in French Polynesia while on a sailing holiday. For me it really captures the beauty and tranquility of the Society Islands and so is a fitting entry for this week’s theme.

My entry for Shadowed was taken in New York. The shadows across the path and the darkness that they cast over much of the photo made it much more interesting than it might otherwise have been.
